The outpatient clinic in Skawina, Poland, has recently converted to a digital logging system for managing the inventory of its medical equipment and devices, saving both time and money. The system was developed by our Polish partners SKK (Systemy Kodów Kreskowych) and uses DENSO handheld data capture terminals.
| Creating a medical equipment inventoryLike all medical facilities in Poland, the outpatient clinic in Skawina needs to provide reports to the national health provider on the condition of its medical equipment and devices. Until the new system was implemented, this was done by hand using printed forms. The whole process took three months – far too long, as far as the clinic’s bosses were concerned. They decided to develop a digitized system to make the process simpler, faster and above all cheaper.The new SKK systemSKK developed an inventory system for the Skawina outpatient clinic consisting of software, DENSO handheld data capture units and Datamax-O’Neil printers. All medical equipment and devices have now been given individual barcodes containing ID numbers. With the help of the DENSO Barcode Handheld Terminals, the barcodes can be quickly and reliably read, transferred to the inventory system and then compared with the existing data. A major advantage of the new system lies in the fact that all existing finance and bookkeeping systems, as well as the EMS (Enterprise Management System), can be integrated.
