Pallet-Track: without wires, but with the BHT-300

30.11.2009

Since 2002, Pallet-Track has transported around three million pallets without losing a single article. The reliability of the English overnight pallet shipments network is impressive. This is no accident, but the result of a consistent business strategy. Pallet-Track is based on transparent and traceable processes. At its new site in Wolverhampton, a Worldwide Solutions wireless mobile recording system has been implemented using the Barcode Handy Terminal DENSO BHT-300.

Wireless in Wolverhampton

Truck in WolverhamptonThe new site extends to approximately 82,000 square meters, where over 140 trucks are loaded every night. 5,000 pallets leave the facility every night, arriving punctually and accurately the next morning at their respective destinations. The vehicles of the 67 independent logistics companies, which make up the Pallet-Track network, are loaded in Wolverhampton and their goods registered via wireless mobile data processing. The new wireless network was planned and implemented by TTID's UK partner, Worldwide Solutions.

Implementation with Worldwide Solutions

The wireless network at Pallet Track is centrally managed, by Trapeze RingMaster Enterprise Wi-Fi Management Software. This software enables the quick and easy planning, configuration, control and maintenance of the system. In Wolverhampton, Worldwide Solutions worked with Ringmaster to implement a comprehensive graphical RF plan, which includes all important objects and materials in the building; for example, doors, walls, ceilings or other obstacles. In this way, it was possible to precisely determine where specific signal strengths are strongest and how many access points are needed to ensure a smooth flow; for example, the wireless transfer of data from the mobile barcode terminals to the central system.

BHT-300: reliable and fast

Pallet-Track Logistics Company uses the BHT-300 terminal to control the checking in and out of their pallets. A good choice, because the BHT-300 is ideal for quick and accurate data capture. Barcodes can be read from a distance of up to 450mm, even if the barcodes themselves are damaged or hard to read. The BHT-300 runs on the highly stable operating System BHT-OS, developed and designed specifically for the needs of mobile data capture.
